My professional background is in library and information management. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Librarianship, a Masters Degree in Knowledge Management and qualifications in Complimentary Therapies. I have managed library and information services in Australia and the UK for many years but now work from my own therapy clinic in Tuggeranong.
I have four children and five grandchildren and over the years have attended many many births. My skills include assisting at hospital, birth centre, home, water, breech, assisted and multiple births, emergency and elective cesarean births and VBACs Over the years I have worked in all the Delivery Suites in the ACT region and have built good working relationships with midwives and OBs. I have experience as a breastfeeding counsellor and also with the IVF process. With a defence background, both as a child and partner, I have a particular understanding of the needs of military personal and families on the move.
In 2001, after assisting at the beautiful peaceful birth of my first grandchild, a chance remark from a midwife opened a new path for me. She commented that I would make a wonderful Doula ... the seed was sown and I eventually moved on to formal certification and a career change.
